Research data management at the HM
Research data is the term for all data and materials generated during a research process through measurements, experiments, surveys, simulations, etc. Depending on the research project and field of study, they are generated, processed, archived and published in different ways.
Research data management refers to the collection, organisation, management and archiving of research data. Research data management thus covers the entire life cycle of research data, from planning through to its permanent archiving and any publication.
Research data must be collected in accordance with the relevant disciplinary standards, described using metadata and stored for the long term. Responsibility for research data management lies with the respective research project management or the independent researchers throughout the entire duration of a research project.
