Specialised Information Services (Fachinformationsdienste - FIDs)
Specialised Information Services provides fast and direct access to specialised literature and research-relevant information to researchers and academics.
The DFG (Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft - German Research Foundation) developed FIDs to establish a cross-regional and usage-based information infrastructure for research. Scientific libraries provide a platform/service for disseminating information.
The goal of FIDs is to enable teaching staff and scientific researchers to have fast and direct access to specialised literature and research-relevant information.
As an infrastructure that supports research, FIDs primarily offer digital sources that align with the special needs of different scientific disciplines.
FIDs, therefore, adds to the local information infrastructure offerings of universities and research institutions.
FID sources are aimed at all HM members. Some sources are only accessible to professors and academic employees.
