Switch to the library management software Folio
By the beginning of December, we will be switching to a new library management software and implementing a new library catalog. This will provide us with a modern system that will allow us to manage all our processes, from lending to e-media licensing. Our go-live date for FOLIO and VuFind as our new OPAC is scheduled December 2, 2025.
On this page, we will keep you up to date on the project. Below you will find an overview of the restrictions that this change will entail for you:
Updated: 20.11.2025
Always available: eMedia
eMedia will be available to you throughout the entire migration period.
Already discontinued
Interlibrary Loans
ILL orders of books is not possible. Interlibrary loans must be returned by 14.11.2025 at the latest.
Copy orders can still be placed:
Recommedation: If you need an interlibrary loan in the coming months, you have the option of obtaining a TUM library card and processing your interlibrary loans there. Public libraries in your area often offer this service as well.
Acquisitions
Acquisitions are currently not possible. If you have any questions or literature requests, please contact our colleagues directly via our ticket system or by eMail . In urgent cases, we will of course find a solution for you.
24. Nov 2025: Circulation is suspended
Media can be borrowed and returned until 23.11.2025. Loan periods and renewals have been adjusted accordingly.
Guest library cards cannot be issued during this period.
No account display in the library catalogue.
01. Dec 2025: last day of the old OPAC
If you have watch lists in our current library catalogue, you should export them by 23.11.2025 at the latest, as they will not be transferred to the new system.
02. Dec 2025: Go Live
Folio:
On 02.12.2025, lending services and interlibrary loans will resume. Acquisitions will resume in the following days.
New library catalogue VuFind:
The most important change for you will be our new OPAC. The login for university members will no longer be linked to a library user number, but will be done with your university ID via Shibboleth. For external users, the library number will continue to apply.
